I do think that age of consent should be examined if someone is 15/16 & the other person is 35; I am not one for legislating morality etc. but there is a power imbalance that could be abusive, harmful
This happens when social norms are shattered. In the past it was understood across the board that this was exploitation and social pressure was exerted to put an end to it.
Doesn’t take much to wonder what is on the minds much less the agenda of ‘lawmakers’ who sought and attained to change the age of consent to 16 like in Commiefornia with the usual suspect championing the legislation then the mentally I’ll Weiner. I am sure if someone did a deep dive into that individuals history there would be many youthful skeletons in his ‘closet.’ What’s amazing to me is people like Weiner get traction with this BS and the pushback has been minimal. Begs the question what in God’s name is going on. In the state of CA in their own Education Code they state a child’s brain does not reach adulthood until the mid twenties. They do not even adhere to their own codes that equals insanity

This is a very important point. And expands to all relationships. My own three Daughters were heavily and negatively influenced by the God Mothers i had chosen and appointed and anointed in the Church under Divine Order. You can imagine my dismay when years later - when it really counted ( i was on my ass recovering from Cancer and surgery) these unGodly God Mothers heavily influence my own vulnerable innocent children ( raised from Birth 100% non Vaxed and as Nature lovers) to leave the safety of the country and green fields - come to the big city and take the kill shot. This unGodly woman brainwashed my own kids - instead of simply allowing them to explore life for themselves. Karen culture is pulling @ the threads of society. Teenagers globally are vulnerable to bad influence @ school, in toxic media and my toxic carers......
Have a strong parent in the picture and you won't. My gay brother was passed around like a plaything by teachers in the age ratio you cite. It is gross. But it isn't illegal just immoral. Interesting that so many are chastising Brand when Polanski had women, who should have known better, rushing to his defense. The hospitals in LA have buildings dedicated to those I know are sickos.
I believe that all sexual relationships have the potential to be (and usually are) unequal. Education is the most important part of this problem. It arms both men and women with the information they need to evaluate their feelings. It helps them avoid mistakes. However, "love is blind" is a phrase that is universal. When hormones are involved or when one party or another has ulterior motives, then there is no predicting what will happen or who will be hurt.
Based upon my own experience- it depends on the 16 year old. I was going to college at that age and was very mature, obviously intelligent. I dated a 26 year old grad student for a bit- but I recognized that the age difference was too great for me.
I agree, I talk to my 14 year old granddaughter about current events and even dumbing things down they are too naive and are really not interested in things that do not impact them directly. Do not get me wrong, she is extremely intelligent but a typical teenager.
