He stated that studies show acupuncture is effective for neuropathy, but he had no understanding of why. I found a reputable acupuncturist, and after the first two treatments, I was pain-free for a few hours. I went once a week for about a year and then was able to push it to every two weeks, and now I can last 6 weeks without treatment. It does not work for everyone, and I was the biggest skeptic walking into it. But as my neurologist pointed out, the downside side effects are tiny needle sticks and a loss of time and money. Since my FSA was paying, I figured I had nothing to lose.
I also found some help with the supplements for neuropathy on askthepharmacist.com. This company was started by a naturopath who was also a Western-trained pharmacist and dietician. The supplements I take include alpha lipoic acid, which does help considerably.

While my neurologist is careful not to tell me there is no hope and reminds me that nerves grow exceptionally slowly, he also stated that he would not anticipate me being able to use my legs below the knees again. Which is what I needed to hear. I was trying to activate my nerves- wiggle my toes, move my ankles, anything. I was overjoyed at the nearly imperceptible movement in my right toes and left ankle. Then, I became disheartened after two and a half years of staring at my feet, trying to get something more from them. I have accepted that my life includes braces and a wheelchair. But to be pain-free is my true goal. I will not give up acupuncture. I use massage therapy to keep the contracture at bay to the best of my ability.
It is nice to have found another person similar to me. I am sorry that you are in this situation.
My doctors are not willing to say that Remdesivir brought me to this point (without Remdesivir, there is no ECMO, open heart (exploratory) surgery, no ventilator, etc. If the emergency room had just treated me for heart failure and not Covid, my life would be different. But, I would have missed out on growing closer to my God and my family. It's not what I would have chosen, but dies have its upside.

Many doctors in 3 states said I am a miracle to have survived what I went through. 1st hospital Doctors told my daughter I was the sickest patient in there Covid ICU. I hope you get pain free and out of the wheel chair. If I have a silver lining in my hell it is retiring early and moving near my daughter. I am blessed to have my independence.

I told them to stop, but it was too late. They tried to do dialysis, but had to stop because it was lowering his blood pressure which was already low. They wouldn't let us see him until he was comatose. He passed away several hours after we saw him. He's with the Lord, but he shouldn't have died from kidney failure.
Sadly, many people have had the same experience. Patient is isolated from family, little to no communication of doctors and nurses with family, patient dehydrated, starved, sedated, put on ventilation, remdesivir. Unfortunately hospitals get financial bonuses for following this remdesivir protocol, rather than letting doctors determine treatment or respecting patient / patient's family's express wishes.
