If the woman called the cops due to possible prowler outside, what were these cops doing inside her home? She shouldn’t have allowed them inside. If they forced their way in, uninvited, they’re trespassing. She has committed no crime. She was calling for help. They should’ve done a sweep around the home & reported back to her, whether or not all was clear. In the kitchen, they simply could’ve told her to leave the pot on the stove. Turn it off & leave it there. Problem solved. Why did they not say something when she first picked up the pot? Police need training in proper communication skills, & deescalation strategies. Also in dealing with people with mental illness. Or call for backup for someone who can deal with a mentally disturbed person. She was not a suspect! She wanted help checking the perimeter of her home for a prowler. This cop was way out of line. I hope he is punished appropriately. So sad.

Why didn't one of them just walk over, turn the pot off and dump the water? In the brief video I saw, there's an edit at that point. You don't see her walking from the sofa to the kitchen. Editing is never good.

I live in Illinois. You may have seen my post on this. My ex found where I was 60 miles away. I heard a noise outside as did my dog. I called 911 where I live and the dispatch woman told me maybe it was a tree limb, go out and look. I said there are no trees, explained my situation with my ex, etc. She finally sent the local police, the Chief actually came. He asked to come in and I let him inside the door. He said he looked around and found nobody, no cars, no tracks but he believed me, made sure I was okay, locked & loaded too and left. He assured me he'd make a few rounds in his car the rest of the night. I thank God I now live in a very conservative Illinois County. Sangamon County is where Ms Massey lived and it is not conservative at all. In fact, I would bet they try to move his trial to another county. If they move it east to Macon County that county is very liberal. It's sad but just about anywhere in Illinois this dirty cop will not face the justice he deserves.
