What was the main treatment for children’s earaches and sore throat’s in the 50’s? What drugs were given if tonsils were surgically removed in 1955?

what I remember, born 1942, was putting my feet in hot water with mustard, hot compresses on ear, gargling with salt, [my parents garbles with vodka}, my Father told me kerosene was used to garble too, lots of bed rest…….honey and lemon juice….and yes, tonsils and adenoids removed.

49er here. Yes remembering all of that. Wondering what was being pushed to young moms in the early 50’s…..What anesthesia? Aspirin for fever? Certainly as a young mom in the 70’s Tylenol was a massive push for infants on up.
