I suppose one has to take a certain amount of truckloads of salt to the party, else one would be doubting every letter and syllable written. There are some genuinely frightening people on the scene though.
Personally, the "strains of philosophical thought" that I hold dear, have barely morphed in 50+ years. They are inviolate. Any massive conversion someone has, be it religious, ideological, physical (shifting to an organic lifestyle, after consuming McDonald's daily) are always a bit suspect. I think Red Diaper Baby Naomi, was approached by very wealthy and powerful forces, who commended her writing, and what she had done for their "Progressive" causes. Offered her large tranches of said money, if she changed her stripes, and did a few things for them. Sort of like Malone. Or, George Webb, an admitted Mossad spy, who came out in dramatic fashion in 2016, exposing actual rat works and treachery being committed by our government.

I wouldn't say he is my favourite bloke on the planet, and he's also a bad payer. However, deep down, he knows right from wrong and that's a good thing for me.
I am probably going to get him off as the Prosecution seems to have mislaid all their blood/alcohol forensic analysis documentation. So, yes, I will unleash another chronic piss-cat back on the motorways. How do I feel about it? Nothing I suppose, because it's a fair contest in this imperfect world we live in.

The thing is we have this imperfect thing called a human being, with all its inadequacies, foibles, self-delusion, false arrogance, fear and loathing. Most people are generally good, kind, generous and well meaning. You do not see these types spoken about in the media. They are not worth writing about. Only misery, scandal and BS sells. This is an indictment of mass common demoninator culture. But it is not representative of anything really.
But back to this thing called "the truth".
In civil law, we have something called "factual allegations". This is where each party is supposed to deal with the facts of their claim/defence as they allege them. This sort of parlance does not work in the real world, but for the courts what it means is party A has to put their version of the facts to the court, as does party B.
People make the mistake to think that Judges are the arbiters of truth - they are not. Judges themselves have their own inherent biases, prejudices and skewed interpretations based on their own unique life experience. They are also human beings.
Courts are not there for this illusory thing called "justice". It simply does not exist. All courts do is take a balanced view on the evidence put in front of them - either in witness testimony in a trial hearing, or on the court papers/affidavits in a motion hearing.
This thing called truth has been suppressed by the system for a long time, mainly because it is inconvenient. I wrote a poem that got published in a local anthology about the legal system a while back called: "Law's for Dummies"

Off to hike, wife is traveling in Europe and how do I use my time? 100+ degree days, hiking, exposed to sun and green mojave rattlers, a rare gila monster (they are gorgeous!) and nought else. Why do I subject myself to potentially lethal 12 mile hikes, with 70 oz of water, and no phone? The desert, hates everything in it. If you survive there, no matter your station or genetics, you have something no arbitrary court decision, can rescind, ablate, or redact.
Aye, while we have a mostly great species, when a fleck gets in the ointment we all grind upon, it hurts.

Phew, I was slightly concerned about you. Not that I need to tell an experienced hiker like you - but one must never underestimate mother nature. Not having enough water can be deadly, especially in such intense heat.

I mainly hike moutains.
