I have a friend that owned a liquor store in Portland and when it got robbed, which was most months, the police will not show up unless the amount stolen is over 950. Eventually his landlord evicted him because the others in the strip mall complained about the patrons and violence.

Portland used to be a beautiful, wonderful place where people wanted to live. It is now overrun by criminals bred and attracted by Portland's woke and lax policies. When you're too outta control for WalMart to even want to be present, it may be time for some adulting to occur amongst the city's leadership. It won't happen though. Portland is on its way to become the Baltimore of the west coast.
Violence is NOT okay anytime, anywhere, by anyone! Even if these employees were afraid of the assailant, they could have called 911 (and maybe did off camera??!)
I lived in Oregon for 7 years and these people are one step short of being in a mental asylum or home for the developmentally delayed,I thought it must be from inter marriage because a lot have never lived outside of Oregon. And it's not a large state.I did like the farms,fresh produce and festivals.I learned how to preserve food there.If you like a simple life and you don't need a lot of friends because they don't like outsiders much.
The funny thing is there are no blacks in Portland, accept a tiny sliver up in ALBINA, but all get moved out for Gentrification to 'gresham' where they come in by street-car
