violent behavior (& the frequent suicides that followed it) were observed throughout the SSRI clinical trials, but were covered up by the SSRI manufacturers & then the drug regulators (e.g., the FDA)
As a "mental health" clinician I kept a database of averse effects from psych meds based on reports of the subjective experiences of clients. In my opinion SSRI AD's are among the most dangerous of commonly prescribed drugs. Moreover they are essentially useless in treating moderate depression which ordinarily translates as "situational unhappiness". Almost all such cases resolve within a few months. They have some limited efficacy in treating major clinical depression - which is actually fairly rare - but only if used very judiciously and short term. Of course they are never prescribed that way; there is no profit in judicious and short term. The suicidality/homicidality is well-documented. Eli Lilly noted it when developing Prozac as early as the late 70's but kept it hidden. SSRI's also induce a kind of bizarre impulsivity which is often under the radar. A danger sign is when clients present as "better than well". As in "How are you feeling?" "Never felt better! I think I'll go and jump off that tall building!" That sort of thing. The FDA finally put a black box warning - meaning a drug may cause death when taken as ordered - on Prozac. The first full year of the BBW was 2004 and in that year overall suicides declined by 3-4 percent. Draw your own conclusions
It is nearly impossible and extremely dangerous to quit SSRI's abruptly. Some like Paxil are worse than others. "officially" there is no withdrawal with SSRI's (pharma calls it "medication discontinuation syndrome". That's "nicer" than withdrawal) and so there is no detox protocol. Most people need to do a slow very gradual taper, sometimes a milligram at a time. Unfortunately they get no support from their 'doctors" almost all of whom are simply pimps for pharma. So they discontinue the SSRI's and people "decompensate" - they just fall apart
True, which says a lot about their safety. I have several
young people that work for me in the Gen Z category. Every single one of them has been on different SSri’s for years. They all have various emotional and health issues. Very sad so many kids have been put on these powerful drugs willy nilly.
I live near a college, and I talked to a friend of mine who works there. She told me that there are quite a few students on antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications. Not only are they harmful, but they don't allow for growth and development of resilience. Rather, they bury the feelings that need to come up and worked with for greater healing to occur. It is so sad. People just want to keep from feeling. They want a quick fix.
The FDA is a major part of big pharma's murder machine. Dangerous cancer drugs, opioids, mRNA injections, statins, weight loss drugs, SSRI's and the list goes on and on. All of these are murder drugs.

Tucker Carlson also did a couple of segments on this taboo topic before he was fired.
Time to ban the use of them temporarily until they can prove its safe to use.
well. maybe new prescriptions. But the poor people already on them can't safely just suddenly quit.
