I couldn't get the link to open to bring up the primary source document so don't know what the outcome measures were. As Jonathan Haidt and his co-author convincingly argued in "The Coddling of the American Mind" many Americans are snowflakes who think their feelings are facts etc so it is not surprising, particularly when outcome measures are based on self-report etc, that much American and other research in vassal countries cannot be replicated.
"My symptoms reduced after the very beautiful, gorgeous and sexy injection" an American may report. But symptoms, as opposed to signs, are subjective.
I understand why Americans are preferred over monkeys in research but, not only do Monkeys tend to have nicer personalities, you are more likely to get unbiased data from a monkey.
Monkeys often outperform Americans on complex tasks, such as making successful stock market predictions. My suggestion would be to get back to using monkeys rather than Americans as research participants whenever possible.
Monkeys should also be preferenced over Americans for the task of research design as they are more likely to understand scientific method and less likely to propagandize ideology masquerading as science.
