All political debates need to be held in front of a live audience with no monitors or moderators. The only questions should come from the live audience which should be a mixture of the population. Even a few homeless and illegals should be there. This way, the candidates will have to stand on their feet and answer questions on the fly. Otherwise, it's all theater and totally scripted and utterly useless.
That's not how communism works so, as good as your suggestion is, there's no way this would ever be acceptable in America. I could picture it happening like that in Russia but it would be a threat to US democracy. The questions must be asked by talking heads from the fake news. The candidate from the ruling party must be given the questions in advance. Fake fact checkers must decry the truth as lies and proclaim that lies are the truth. Celebrities and pop stars must be on hand to tell us how to think and what to believe.
