If Walter's theory was correct, all infected and injected would have elderly organs and would have died long ago. Obviously, that didn't happen.
The mind craves simplicity. So, the natural tendency is to dismiss anything which doesn't fit. The reality is one should not do that and accept there may be more than one cause.
Since the beginning, some people exposed to this agent across ages have died unexpectedly and suddenly. It was their first and only symptom. There was no time for rapid aging. It happened to patients on ventilators. Haven't seen lab findings for any of the former, but this is what was discovered for at least some of the latter.
Studies have shown the infection can persist even when the afflicted thinks it's over. This may be appropriate after the first few months of the nightmare for what appears to be sudden deaths.
