Capt. Roy, you have most likely hit the nail on the head with them being awarded The Order of Canada. The Order of Canada has mostly been a farce for some time.
"Awards are like hemorrhoids: In the end, every asshole gets one."
I suspect The Order of Canada pretty much always was a farce. In the unlikely event I'm ever offered it, I'd turn it down: I'm picky about the company I keep. π
When I first started seeing those who were given them, I realized, pretty well anyone can get one as long as you are on the winning team, sort of speak.
Well, Near Death researchers, many of them, including Bruce Greyson, who studied NDEs for forty years, find that people report life reviews in which they experience everything they did wrong to harm others from the point of view of the victim. There are many phenomena across many disciplines and healing methods that point to a nonphysical aspect of being, and the debunkers of NDEs, who ascribe to a physicalist, materialist reductionist paradigm, don't have good explanatory value, to my mind. So maybe karma is actually a bitch, and that's why these psychopaths are so drawn to transhumanism and immortality, because imagine being Fauci experiencing everything he inflicted on beagles and animals and children and pregnant women and everyone else.
It's a lovely thought Cynthia, I'll give you that. Trouble is, they get away with it and get away with it and get away with it... They finish up smelling like a rose and their suits, dry cleaned and pressed .. and I can think of some pretty terrible things I've done years gone by, which tear me to pieces to think of now... (And if you're honest with yourself, so have you.) Trouble is, at the time? I prayed to God to give me strength to do the Right Thing .. Did he help me? He Did Not! And I did the things I did, can't do a thing about it now! π±π₯ But boy-oh-boy, am I ever going to get it on The Other Side!! How does this make any sense at all?
Like Fox Mulder, "I want to believe"... but what is the use in believing in stuff like Karma, which far as I can tell is crock of shit, or keeping faith in a God, who will not keep faith with me?
May I recommend for your viewing pleasure, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", in which will be revealed to you the final clinching proof for the non-existence of God, the parable of The Whale and The Bowl of Petunias, God's final message to his creation; but above all: The Answer to the Question of Life, the Universe and Everything"... π€

Nice work if you can get it, eh? π€

Karma isn't a bitch after all.
No, it isn't...

Capt. Roy, we all have free will. God or the Universe does not control that.

Thanks for the share. :)
We just have to exercise it, and in large numbers.
And he was right not to.
Because he didn't deserve it.
Shh!!!
