Although not the main topic of this discussion, FYI Roosevelt did not have polio:
1. Poliomyelitis is known as Infantile Paralysis and affects primarily infants less than 2 or 3 years old. Roosevelt was 38 when he became paralyzed. Fishy!
2. Poliomyelitis affects one side of the body. Look at anyone who had the disease and they have ONE atrophied limb never two. Even more fishy?
3. There were no diagnostic tests for polio until 1955. It was all a clinical diagnosis. If your doctor said it was polio then it was polio - case closed. It is really beginning to smell?
4. Polio disappeared in the late 50s when DDT use was stopped. The smell is unbearable!
It is unlikely that the poliovirus caused Roosevelt's bilateral lower limb paralysis.

The other interesting thing is that most of the limb atrophy that you see may be largely due to the fact that victims were placed in casts to prevent them from using the affected limb, which then atropied from disuse.
