correct....like mRNA technology, this opens to door to scary issues and mRNA has already shown itself to be catastrophic

"If in doubt, do not do it."

That is a recipe for stagnation.

Nope. It is a recipe for evaluation and re evaluation and re re re evaluation and it not only keeps one out of trouble and even danger but makes possible alternate actions in one's own time. It does no good when one is lost to run all over hell's half acre but I have a better example. Say you are lost in gator country and you are hot and sweaty and think about swimming across a river to save time. Not a smart move because one does not know if there awaits a hungry gator thereabouts. If in doubt then do not do it.

I never said the proposal should not be evaluated. Read my other comments on this blog, but you seem to want to beat it to death. Humans would still live in caves if they had waited until all doubt was removed before they acted.

You insinuated that not moving on an issue resulted in stagnation. I live as I say. For example, I have an OPP pig fake and defective detective on a bed of stone tied down while I take my time composing the proof of 14 criminal charges I am submitting to the OPIRD BUT in taking my time I discovered in the last 6 years that the OPIPRD only entertained 1% of the complainants problems with the OPP pigs. SOooooooo my next step if they toss it is to send the whole story along with names of the culprits to the NRA where I have been a supporting member for decades to have it published plus sending it to major gun rights clubs in Canuckistan PLUS politicizing and publicizing it nation wide as well as online. More thought and time I came up with legal counsel I could myself or hire a criminal lawyer to legally file charges with the Crown to be prosecuted.

I have three backups to push the issue and the lying pos pig will not escape punishment of serious criminal charges.

Get it? Strategizing caused ALL charges against me to be dropped. It was a three year period and now it is MY TURN to raise hell with corrupt thieves and liars wearing blue uniforms. I will raise hell for every single one of five pigs if they want to be difficult. I do not quit! Last fight was eleven years and a victory that resulted in a five digit payout.

There are three ways of thinking and doing things here, the right way, the wrong way and the Canuckistan way and the last two are wrong and the sheeple do and think those last two ways.

That is correct. However, moving on an issue does not mean implementing it without due diligence, nor does it mean sitting on it without moving forward with research.

CRISPR technology sounds very powerful. All powerful technology can be used for good or for evil, as we have seen so clearly in the last three years. If genetic code can be easily and cheaply altered to improve someone's health, could it not also be used to harm health or depopulate? That's a question I would never have imagined asking 3 1/2 years ago, yet here we are.

Agreed -- I am reading the book The Code Breaker, Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race, by Walter Isaacson, all written of course with flowers, and happy lady bugs, in the guise of help. CRISPR can block genes, etc. but there is inadequate long term testing for the adverse effects this "technology" will have on gene lines for the future, and other biological effects by editing genes to target one problem without also causing other problems. I for one want nothing to do with it, if I have a biological problem I prefer to use mother natures gifts to address it. However, I have developed a keen interest in the last seven years on what the Industry and their Private Partnerships are doing to medicine and the food supply., while also learning natures remedies. Thank You for your posts.

kaboom, again, this is why I posted this, as it is very troubling for the implications are horrendous. can cause cancers etc., if we interfere with the genetic sequence etc. and worse.

I couldn't agree with you more Dr A!! We aren't even close to the level of understanding needed to be playing around with this. Inside the single cell is an entire new world of lilliputian complexity and right now we don't understand but a small fraction of what is going on in that single cell. And that's not to mention the incredibly complex communication systems between cells and a thousand other things these arrogant fools are toying with. Just because one can do a thing , doesn't mean one should.

kaboom, thats where ethical debate with the public is critical and clearly absent with all things COVID and the deadly vaccine...they want to give us something we do not want and was not needed...but they can kill us from, make money with, and gain power over us

However, that does not mean that research to gain knowledge should be hindered.

"I share this simply as an introduction but CRISPR is in widespread use and pandora cannot get back into the box and this is an area like mRNA that IMO needs 100 years of serious research and ethics debates before we touch it in humans…IMO."

How could you possibly know how long sufficient research would take?

Of course, one should not plunge into genetic enhancement without adequate knowledge of the possible outcome. However, genetic enhancement has tremendous potential to further humanity's ascent through better health and an increase in positive human traits., and careful research should be conducted on it.

I would agree to an extent...but look around us, have we used anything, any advancement benevolently? It has tremendous applicability in the right hands with decent caring people, who want to squeeze the good from it...at present, its among money, making money and safety is not a concern...so we fear it...if we have good examples we can debate this...you are right, I dont know the length of needed research but no doubt we needs decades that were missed wit hthis mRNA disaster

"I would agree to an extent...but look around us, have we used anything, any advancement benevolently?"

I would say the polio vaccine and most pre-COVID Vaccines, sanitation technology, and many others. Of course, there are plenty of examples where advancements have been used to the detriment of others, perhaps starting with the development of the club and the discovery of fire. Yes, there are many self-serving, nasty bastards on this planet, but look at it this way: genetic enhancement is an opportunity to eventually eliminate those with negative traits, not through force but through wise choices made by prospective parents.

You are too cynical.

Hi, such an interesting conversation. IMO first one has to postulate that there is something we must change in the "traits" of a human being., which I believe stems from a very old theory of eugenicists. In my opinion it should be medicine's task to get to the source of a disease before one can solve the disease., in others words how one manifested the situation in the first place., the obvious is always present too like clean water, diet, healthy organs. Seems like medicine either wants to drug it, cut it out, suppress with poisonous drugs, or mis-diagnose when you don't know what it is and treat it as a probable diagnosis-solution., at least that is what I have witnessed reading many testimonies. There is still today so much research and work that can be done going forward without editing genes, the homeopathic route, the natural remedy routes, holistic solutions that Big Pharma won't acknowledge or will dismiss. Also, Genetic Enhancement? Are we talking engineered bodies? Now I do really think this is a Sci-Fi movie we are living - Did anyone survey the public ? Q: Would you rather talk to a robot or a Human? Q: Would you prefer an analysis from a machine or a human expert? I think CRISPR is still in the EXPERIEMNTAL STAGES and lots of funding.

that is the key...who decides we need to change this or that and why cant the public be part of any debate and let the public decide if the public wants it...not big business who sees profit. even if you could invent something, even if you show it has benefits, the public may not want it, for religious, for ethical, for a host of reasons and we must respect the public

Look around. You don't see room for improvement?

"There is still today so much research and work that can be done going forward without editing genes, the homeopathic route, the natural remedy routes, holistic solutions that Big Pharma won't acknowledge or will dismiss."

I do not support forcing people to give up natural 'remedies' or holistic 'solutions' if they are so inclined. Neither do I support forcing people to use genetic enhancement.

"Are we talking engineered bodies?"

We are talking about healthier bodies and minds, but only for those who wish to take advantage of the technology.

"Q: Would you rather talk to a robot or a Human? Q: Would you prefer an analysis from a machine or a human expert?"

Those are non-sequitur comments. That is not genetic enhancement.

"I think CRISPR is still in the EXPERIEMNTAL STAGES and lots of funding."

CRISPR is past the experimental stage and is in the developmental stage.

Here is a list of human traits that could sure as hell use improvement. Let me know which ones you disagree with.

Integrity, intelligence, inquisitiveness, intuitiveness, industriousness, insight, inspiration, imagination, inventiveness, and intentness.

As I write, those studying psychometrics are researching which genomic profile influences human traits. This is a complex endeavor, as virtually all traits are polygenic. It requires using very powerful computers and programs to quickly sort and analyze massive data sets.
