A woman up the road is 80 and alone, and I text her every morning to see if she is alright. We do her maintenance work. At night I text her back to see if all is well. She is grateful for my involvement in her existence. My neighbor, a young woman has agreed when the time comes to look after the "aesthetic" issues it is not my place to be involved in. (bathing her, doing her laundry, etc) Known her for over 2 decades and expect to be there to enable her to live in her house until her end which is her desire. I know one day she will not answer my texts and I will go there and find her deceased. She is happy and her two children and grandchildren visit her regularly. In the country people tend to aid others a lot.
I do visit with her at times until she is tired and needs to sleep.
She is not seeking a relationship having others around her of family and friends. I hope you have some yourself and relatives too with both willing to aid you.

Old couple up the road, the Haddocks, were poor so as a boy throughout the year I would fish and give them to the couple. In spring I would dodge game wardens as a boy and spear pike spawning just half a mile away. They were tasty coming from ice cold lake.
I never knew how they appreciated it until one night in church Mrs Haddock stood up to testify and of all things told the people how her "boy" speared fish for her. So there was a hypocrite boy Edward who ignored the law.? A quandary for all because breaking the law was not well looked upon in the church but I did it to procure food for an elderly woman. Nobody criticized me. The law in some aspects is an ass. Spearing the small ones did no harm. The females who laid all the eggs were huge and not bothered.
To only pray for these older women when I could put food on their table would have been wrong. Mother gave them money. That was what proper people did when they saw a need.
Mother taught me well. Now I oppose and fight the corrupt CYSTem but mother is not around to praise me anymore. She was very proud when I left home to make my way in the world and fought for others. I hate bullies of any sort in or out of the damned CYSTem.
Laws or no law, you weren't commiting murder... You were providing for another. You did the right thing. Only God knows what's in your heart... Jesus would have done the same thing...help his brother or sister.
Many laws today deprive freedoms. I frequented a pond on CT to swim. The natural resource for all to enjoy has been destroyed and a boat launch erected. No parking, swimming unless you have a boat. It's so sad. Many other areas have been closed off to the public. There are areas wherein you have to pay to enjoy the natural resource. Bring me back to the 70s...

Again, God Will Give You What You Need. We helped each other with what we both were going through. He is a faithful follower of Jesus Christ Our Savior and a great friend of mine. I was blessed to gain such a great friend.
